Railroad Protective Liability (RRP)

Railroad Protective Liability (RRP) insurance is required of contractors who perform work on or near railroad tracks, railroad right-of-way or owned railroad property.  This policy is often contractually required to be purchased by the design consultant/contractor or owner in favor of the railroad, apply to on-going operations only,  site-specific coverage and will respond on a primary basis to any other insurance policies that may also provide coverage.

Key coverage parts include the acts and omissions of the railroad and physical loss or damage to the railroad’s property.  You may be also be required to sign a separate hold harmless agreement in favor of the railroad and independent of your professional services agreement.
